SARA has approximately 436 dogs ready for adoption. Choose your new family member from our online collection or, if you don’t see your new best friend, we encourage you to visit the Sanctuary. Our director can find several dogs for you based on your lifestyle and interests, while you get the opportunity to meet the animals in person. Also available in our downloads section (on this page) is a compiled list of adoptable dogs.

Kelly: Kelly came to SARA after spending years in a no-kill shelter in south Florida. It's somewhat of a mystery why she hadn't been adopted for all that time. Florida volunteers brought Kelly to SARA so she could stretch her legs and play with some pooch pals. She's looking for a home of her own now.

Setiva: Wow! Look at her BLUE EYES! She is in excellent health and looking for a good home. No aggression issues, would make a great family pet for any loving family.

Patches: Patches was given up by some people who had adopted her from another shelter and she wound up here. She is a very sweet and very animated little dog.

Cilla: Cilla is a funny, playful dog. She has a quirky personality and came to us from another shelter where she couldn't adapt to the life there which can be very stressful- small cages, lots of barking... so she has really blossomed out here.

Beemer: Beemer was actually born at SARA. His mother, Cassidy, who has since been adopted, was brought here by a Dalmatian rescue group when pregnant.

Rosemary: was left at our front gate with 11 puppies. She's a sweet and happy dog, gets along with most other dogs.

Rex: We don't have a lot of background information on Rex. He was left tied to our gate. We do know that he is a camera ham, as you can tell from his picture, and that he is not very cat friendly, but he is great with kids and other dogs.

Velvet II: Velvet II is a wonderful dog. She was taken out of TLAC by a pit bull rescue group who didn't want to keep her for some reason. She is very sweet and has a great personality.

Alamo: was found on South Alamo Street one night in San Antonio, starving and flea-ridden. He's got a huge head and a funny curly tail. Part pit bull and chow, he is a loving sweet dog who gets along well with other female dogs and is great with children. He does not like cats or small animals such as rodents.

Antoinette: is an affectionate 30 lb. female mix.

Austin: is a three year old German Shepherd mix, he's neutered and very sweet. He needs some socialization and training, but he's a terrific dog who has grown up out here. His mother and siblings came from a "collector" who had a house full of animals.

Maggie: was found starving and covered with mange on a deserted country road. She was nursed back to health by a family, but Maggie was too strong and active for their very young children. She's really sweet and gets along great with other dogs and cats and would be fine with older kids.

Philip: was abandoned by his owners in San Antonio. A neighbor contacted us and brought him out to SARA. While he's sweet and affectionate with us, he's a little wary of strangers and somewhat aggressive with small children and he can scale fences, so he needs a home with no small children or cats and out in the country where he can be safe.
