SARA has many affectionate and playful dogs ready for adoption. Choose your new family member from our online collection or if you don't see your new best friend, we encourage you to visit the Sanctuary. Our director can find several dogs for you based on your lifestyle and interests, while you get the opportunity to meet the animals in person.

New dogs come to SARA on a regular basis. This page is always changing and will be updated biweekly.

Jake: Jake's nickname is SMOOSHY! He has stolen our hearts! Jake was found in a field in Seguin starving to death. We will not post the photos taken when we found him, they are far too graphic and sad. The GOOD NEWS is he is eating well and getting healthier every day. Our man Jake LOVES his people and your people and every people! He fell asleep at the vet's office in the vet tech's arms during his exam. She was rubbing his tummy and giving him kisses and he was so happy he fell asleep! He desparately wants someone to love him and kiss him and rub his belly.

Alamo: Who are you calling tough?

Alamo likes to pretend he is a macho man but do you want the truth? He is a sensitive, snuggle bunny that loves people, games of fetch and big long hugs. His coat is so smooth and velvety and his looks speak for themselves. Alamo is the kind of dog that will be your best friend…be there for you through thick and thin. By far one of my favorite SARA dogs, if you can give Alamo a home without other male dogs, you will have a GEM!!! Alamo is neutered and current on rabies.

Aleera: There is just something about Aleera!

Aleera is one of a kind. Her look is unique and she is slender and petite. Aleera is calm, extremely friendly and curious. She is a little bit shy but her curiosity pulls her to get to know you and then once you connect, the rest is history. Aleera has gorgeous eyes and an intriguing blue merle on her back. Aleera is spayed and current on rabies.

Duke: What would you like to do today?

Duke is all white with pink points and those gorgeous, thoughtful eyes. He is here to please you and only wants to do whatever you have on the agenda. Duke is sweet, friendly and such an individual! From cuddling on the couch to adventure, Duke is your man. Duke is neutered and current on rabies.

Liza: “There is nothing I couldn’t do…If I had you”

Like her namesake, Liza is an energetic performer. She is a 4 year old lab mix who would make someone a wonderful companion! Liza is great with other dogs and older children. She is very outdoorsy and would make a fantastic running buddy. Liza is spayed and current on rabies.

Dusty: Are you looking for that special someone?

You won’t notice at first, but Dusty is deaf. Don’t let her disability stop you. She learned “SIT” as we were doing the photo shoot through hand signals and a few treats. Dusty is very smart, great with kids, cats and other dogs. Dusty is so sweet and gentle. She would make an incredible family dog and is an inspiration to others with something special to overcome. Luna: Our happy and smiling girl here loves people and will wiggle her way into your heart. She was found in San Antonio living in a drainpipe with 8 puppies who have all been adopted. She tends to bark at men she doesn’t know so an introduction is important to her. See Luna in ACTION!

Joey: Look into this shy guy's eyes and be drawn in by the devotion and charm. The crooked smile happened when he was run over and his jaw was broken. He's fine now and when he gets introduced to you properly, his true capacity to love and accept you as his forever family will shine brightly. Farlin: He is a Husky mix and prefers the company of dog ladies. Has some old injuries to his leg where he was possibly hit by a car. "Bred in Northeast Asia as a sled dog, the Siberian Husky is known for its amazing endurance and willingness to work. Its agreeable and outgoing temperament makes it a great all-around dog. Siberians are relatively easy keepers, but their thick coats require weekly brushing. New owners should be prepared to provide an outlet for exercise daily, whether through walks or an enclosed space in which to run."

Brando: As magnetic as his namesake, Brando is ready for his close up with you. Coming from the Humane Society, he has definite ideas on who he wants to hang with and the ladies are all invited. He is good with adult humans and female dogs. The American Pit Bull Terrier combines Terrier and Bulldog for "strength, confidence, and zest for life. The breed’s natural agility makes it one of the most capable canine climbers so good fencing is a must for this breed." Stop by our facility and feel his animal magnetism.

Michael: He had his lower jaw broken by someone who kicked him in the face. He's house trained and likes cats and other dogs. Not good w/ kids. He is a very sweet and gentle dog. Despite his history of abuse, he trusts people and is looking for his new home.
