Happy Endings ...

Nothing matches the feeling when an animal goes on to their 'forever home' with loving and caring people who choose to open their hearts and homes to deserving pets. Read through some of our best happy endings stories.

Create a happy ending of your own for an animal that desperately needs a loving home. Check out our adoption pages to see who we have at the sanctuary right now in need of a home!

Sampson Gets Adopted Cuddles and Sampson

Cuddles, the white pit, was dumped at the sanctuary 5 years ago. He's mellowed out a lot over the years and has since become very affectionate and has taken on a primary job description of 'people licker'. Sampson is the shy black dog in the foreground who was also adopted by Tim, a SARA volunteer shown here, into his forever home.

Petunia

The sweet little potbellied pig with the long eyelashes is now a member of a happy menagerie of well-loved animals in Austin. The clan consists of Daisy, an Aussie Shepherd/Chow mix; Sally, a Chihuahua/terrier mix who enjoys yapping and standing on the backs of the pigs; Truffles, another pot-belly pig who is about two years old now; and Zachary, a very spoiled cat rescued from the streets a few years ago ... Petunia is also our mascot for Thrifty Critters, the thrift store set up in Driftwood to benefit SARA Sanctuary.

Petunia Gets Adopted

Scarlett Gets Adopted Scarlett

The adorable Scarlett pup was just adopted at an adoption day event at Tomlinson's in Austin. She will be living the good life now, surounded by a doting family, trips to the dog park, swims, runs and being a newly proclaimed 'bed hog'.

Jayme

When the perky black and white border-collie mix was found with her friend Zach, they were abandoned in a trailer park. After doing many adoption events and several stints at fostering, Jayme went home with her new person, Ginger, to live in a new forever home in Dallas.

Spotty Dottie Gets Adopted Spotty Dottie

A volunteer found Spotty Dottie in an abandoned home when she was just six weeks old. Malnourished and sick wtih distemper, it took lots of medical care — and TLC — to nurse her back to health. Born with a tounge too long for her mouth, Spotty Dottie is quick to catch on to tricks, is very curious and has a lot of energy for playing! Spotty Dottie finally went to her forever home with Christine Banks this fall. Her new favorite hobbies include car rides and neighborhood walks.

Scooter
Scooter got her name after she was hit by a car and became partially paralyzed. Not one to give up, Scooter learned to 'scoot' around to keep herself mobile and to keep tabs on everything going on at the Sanctuary. Scooter was recently adopted (in January 2010) by our volunteer coordinator, Mono Aguilar. He outfitted her with a wheeled cart to help her get around and now she is keeping tabs on everything that goes on in his house, 2 cats included!

Milan The Beautiful Milan

Discovered in September, Milan was in bad shape: suffering from mange, malnutrition, illness and abuse. She is now on the mend and is on the Olympic Napping Team after being fostered and then adopted by our web designer.

Kaiser

Suspected to be Milan's pup, Kaiser was found in September as well. He was also suffering from heartworms and mange, but has since bounced back to full health and is now a part of the pack with five other fat and happy dogs in San Antonio, also adopted by our web designer.
