Volunteers are needed in the communities we primarily serve - and Austin is second only to San Antonio. Are you a self-starter, the motivated type? Then we need you to be a SARA steward.

adoption days
We are seeking an Austin Volunteer Coordinator and 10 - 15 volunteers in Austin for finding adoption outlets, planning transport and implementing adoption days at local shops - such as Whole Foods, The Austin Zoo, etc. Our goal is to find homes for 100 or more pets annually, so we can make room for more animals in need. The animals need grooming the Friday before the event, assistance with transporting the pets to Austin is sometimes needed, as well as volunteers to help handle the dogs during the event.

Volunteers that are able to provide loving foster homes for the weekend always help the animals unwind from the drive and feel more relaxed and comfortable for their big day. Please email Brandy if you are interested.

SARA street team
The SARA Street team is comprised of self-motivated individuals who are willing to post occasional flyers, volunteer at or host events to benefit SARA, and get the word out "on the street" about our Sanctuary. Any time you see an opportunity, whether it's calling the local radio station, responding to a Letter to the Editor, putting out a collection jar, or spreading the word about SARA at church or in the community, we welcome your help! This job is nice because you can do it close to your home, during hours you choose and at your own pace.

fundraising events
Occasionally, SARA has specific fundraising events in Austin. We need volunteers who are willing to be called periodically to see if they are available to help staff an event. Please email Tracy if you are interested.
