Sponsor an Animal
SARA provides life-long care for hundreds of animals. Most of our “farm animals,” the donkeys, mules, horses, goats, pigs, cattle, rabbits, barnyard fowl, and alpacas, will live out the entirety of their lives in the safety of our property. Often these animals have suffered abuse and neglect before coming to us and deserve the complete assurance that they will never be subjected to cruelty again.
We work with numerous rescues in other parts of the country to provide a permanent refuge for dogs and cats deemed “unadoptable” because of behavioral issues: they have a history of biting, do not like children, or are fearful of people. Our motto, Unconditional Life, extends to these dogs and cats a home of their own where they can live long and happy lives free from the triggering experiences that caused their problems in the first place.
Why sponsor a SARA animal?
Caring for animals is expensive. A single dog or cat costs the sanctuary $1,500 per year on average, more depending on age and level of health care needs. Supporting larger farm animals like donkeys, horses, cows, and camelids (alpacas), costs thousands of dollars per year due to the ever increasing cost of feed and hay, regular hoof maintenance, grooming, and medical care.
While we do not funnel sponsorship dollars to a specific individual animal, your monthly support goes into our operating fund that will help ensure top-notch care of all of our permanent residents.
Is it a gimmick? Yes, a little, but it’s also a fun way to support SARA and becoming a SARA Sponsor gives a face, a name, and a personal connection to the animals here that need your help.
It makes a great meaningful gift for the animal lover in your life.
